Why this matters

"It still looks dirty" the day after a roof wash is the single most common complaint call this trade gets, and it has two genuinely different causes that look identical from a customer's driveway: a job that was actually done correctly, on a roof that has not finished its multi-week fade yet, and a job that missed real coverage. Telling them apart from a phone call, before deciding whether to send a truck back out, means reading the job's own record rather than guessing from the customer's description or from memory of how the visit went.

Getting this wrong in either direction has a real cost. Send a truck for a full re-wash on a roof that was already correctly treated, and the shop spends chemical, labor, and drive time on a slope that needed nothing but the calendar; the second wash also resets the dwell exposure on an area that had already had its full label-band treatment once, adding risk for no benefit. The call

A two-story home, heavy black algae streaking that had covered all four roof elevations before service, gets its soft wash the day before. The next morning the homeowner calls: "you were here yesterday and it looks exactly the same, I don't think anything happened." No specific spot is named, just the whole roof, described from where the homeowner normally sees it, which is the driveway looking up at the street-facing slope.

Reconstructing from the record before assuming anything

The record is what decides which of the two stories is true; it does not decide in favor of the tidier one by default.

Closing the call

The office called the homeowner back with the specific finding rather than a general reassurance: the shaded north slope they see from the driveway was documented as fully treated, with the same mix strength and dwell time as the rest of the roof, and it is expected to be the slowest elevation to visibly lighten precisely because it gets the least sun.
