Flooring

What the Flooring pack adds: install, refinish, subfloor prep, and the measure-to-material paperwork behind them.

The Flooring pack tunes Manuall for installation and refinishing: hardwood, engineered, LVP and laminate, tile, carpet, sand and finish, subfloor prep, stairs. It is not the Carpet Cleaning pack; this one is install work, measured and quoted before anyone unloads a plank. Apply it at signup or from Settings -> Vertical Packs.

What the pack adds

Custom fields

  • Customer: Area (sq ft), Furniture Move (No / Yes / Partial).
  • Job: Flooring Job Type (Install / Refinish / Repair / Stair Install / Demo / Leveling), Material (Solid Hardwood / Engineered / LVP / Laminate / Tile / Carpet / Other), Rooms / Areas.
  • Equipment, Lead, Invoice: none ship. Add your own in Custom Fields if you track something the pack does not, like a builder or GC job number.

Job templates

Fourteen, each with a duration for the slot finder and required skills so the wrong tech does not get booked. Hardwood Install (480 min), Tile Install (480), Bathroom Floor Replacement (480), Carpet Install (420), LVP / Laminate Install (360), Refinish / Sand + Finish (360), Screen and Recoat (300), Stair Install (240), Subfloor Prep / Leveling (180), Demo + Disposal (180), Repair / Board Replacement (120), Annual Floor Care Visit (120), Service Call / Floor Diagnosis (60), Measure + Estimate (45). Skills used: Flooring plus Install, Tile, Refinish, Measure, Repair, Stair, Prep or Demo.

Every template also carries DefaultServices, so applying one pre-fills the billable lines. The quantities are stand-ins for a floor nobody has measured yet: Hardwood Install pre-fills 600 sq ft, LVP 800, Tile 200, Refinish 800, Carpet 900, Demo 600, Stair Install 13 steps, Bathroom 60. Overwrite each with the measured number before the estimate goes out. See Job Templates.

Services

Twenty-five, every one flagged and badged "Set your price" in the price book until you save it. Prices are a 2025 US national average, a starting point and not your number. Read the descriptions too: the install lines are labor only with material billed at cost, the exceptions being Tile Installation, which includes mortar and grout, and Carpet Installation, which includes pad and tack strip. If you sell material marked up rather than at cost, that is a price-book edit on day one.

  • Per sq ft: Solid Hardwood Installation, Engineered Hardwood Installation, Luxury Vinyl Plank and Laminate Installation, Tile Installation, Hardwood Sand and Refinish, Screen and Recoat, Carpet Installation, Subfloor Prep and Leveling, Underlayment Installation, Old Flooring Removal and Disposal, Ceramic Tile and Thinset Removal, Uncoupling and Waterproofing Membrane.
  • Everything else: Board and Plank Repair (per board), Stair Installation (per step), Transition and Threshold Installation, Toilet Removal and Reset, Self-Leveling Compound (per bag), Baseboard and Trim Installation (per linear ft), Measure and Estimate (per visit), Service Call and Floor Diagnosis (flat rate), Hourly Rate (Flooring), After-Hours and Weekend Labor, Furniture Moving and Reset (per room), Carpet Stretch and Re-Seam Repair (per room), Hardwood Floor Care Plan (per year).

Thirteen are flagged to show in public booking and on the public site. The prep and add-on lines are not, because no homeowner picks "Uncoupling and Waterproofing Membrane" off a dropdown. Each service also carries Member and Commercial tier prices. See Price Book.

Checklists

Three, shipped for you to check against your own procedure: Flooring: Hardwood Install (21 items), Flooring: Refinish / Sand (17 items), Flooring: Job Site Protection (13 items). They are not tick-boxes only. They capture numbers and photos, including subfloor moisture, wood moisture content, the wood-to-subfloor differential, flatness deviation over 10 ft, room temperature and humidity at finish, and a photo of the meter reading. That is the file you want when a customer calls about cupping in March.

Hardwood Install and LVP / Laminate use the install checklist, Refinish and Screen and Recoat use the refinish one, and the rest get Job Site Protection. See Checklists.

Parts

Twenty-two truck-stock items across Adhesives and Mortar, Subfloor Prep, Tile Setting, Underlayment, Fasteners, Carpet, Trim and Transitions, and Finishes and Abrasives: urethane and pressure-sensitive adhesive, thinset, sanded grout and grout caulk, self-leveler and its primer, patch, uncoupling membrane, vapor retarder, foam underlayment, 16 gauge cleats, tack strip, rebond pad, seam tape, stair nosing, transition molding, oil-modified poly, 36 grit drum belts, 120 grit screens.

Cost and price are national averages, stock is zero, and no reorder point is set, because nothing can know what is on your truck. Counting the van and setting reorder points is your first pass in Parts and Inventory. Twenty-five bill-of-materials rows tie those parts to the 14 services that consume them, so the tech sees what the job needs and the office sees what to keep stocked. The BOM is consumables only. Field goods, the actual plank, tile and carpet, stay off the truck list because they are ordered per job.

Seasonal pricing proposals

Four, all switched off. The pricing engine ignores an inactive rule, so nothing moves until you turn one on in Seasonal Pricing.

  • Holiday Rush, Oct 15 to Dec 15, Carpet Installation at 1.12.
  • Summer Refinish Season, Jun 1 to Aug 31, Hardwood Sand and Refinish at 1.10.
  • Winter Slow Season, Jan 5 to Feb 28, Luxury Vinyl Plank and Laminate Installation at 0.90.

Typical workflow

  • Measure and Estimate is a real billed visit (95 dollars per visit as shipped, credited to the job when it books). Run it as a job, not a phone quote, and the laser numbers land in the file.
  • Turn the measure into an estimate with a deposit. Material is ordered against a signed number, so the deposit needs to cover it.
  • Big installs run days, not hours. No template is longer than 480 minutes, so a 1,800 sq ft hardwood job has to be split across days on the calendar or the slot finder will promise it in one.
  • Rotted decking at a toilet flange, a slab that fails a moisture test, an old floor that turns out to be two layers: that is a change order, not a quiet edit to the original estimate.
  • Screen and Recoat plus the Hardwood Floor Care Plan is the repeat revenue in this trade. Wrap it in a service contract with an annual recurring job on the Annual Floor Care Visit template.
  • Send the finished-floor photos through the customer portal. A wood floor sells the next job by looking good in a photo.

Measuring, waste, and material against a signed estimate

The pack prices install per square foot of finished floor. Waste is not in that number and no service line adds one, so decide once how you handle it and stay consistent: bill the measured field and carry waste in the labor rate, or add the waste percentage as its own quantity line so the customer sees it. Ten percent on a straight lay and fifteen on a diagonal or herringbone is the usual starting point, more in a house full of jogs and closets.

Order material against the approved estimate, not the measure. If the customer changes species or plank width after signing, the estimate changes first and the supplier order follows it, so what you paid and what you billed still reconcile at the end. Purchase Orders ties that order to the job.

One more that costs shops money: acclimation. Hardwood Install ships at 480 minutes with a note to acclimate 48 to 72 hours on site. The delivery is not a work day but it is a calendar commitment, so book it as its own short job or the crew arrives to a pallet that has been in the house four hours.

Re-applying and mixing packs

Applying a pack twice only adds what is missing. It never overwrites a service you have repriced or a checklist you have edited. Flooring shops commonly also carry Handyman for the trim and door work that rides along, Painting for the remodel side, Carpet Cleaning if you maintain what you install, and Water Restoration if you take flood tear-out calls. Apply them from Settings -> Vertical Packs.
