Septic

The Septic pack tunes Manuall for pump routes, point-of-sale inspections, drain field and pump repair, aerobic maintenance contracts, and full system installs. Apply it at signup or from Settings -> Vertical Packs.

What the pack adds

Custom fields

• Job (1): Access Point (Lids Exposed, Risers Installed, Locate Needed). It decides whether the truck leaves with a probe and shovels or just a hose.
• Equipment (5): Tank Capacity (Gallons), Tank Material (Concrete, Fiberglass, Polyethylene, Steel, Unknown), Tank Configuration (Single Compartment, Two Compartment, Two Tanks in Series), Lid Depth Below Grade (in), Drain Field Type (Gravel Trench, Chamber, Mound, Drip, Sand Filter, Spray Field). The Equipment record here is the system in the ground, so the next visit starts from what the last one dug up.
• Lead (1): What Symptom? Free text, because the caller says "it is backing up," not "outlet baffle."
• Customer (2): Last Pumped, Pumping Interval (Years). The cadence question this whole trade runs on, so it sits on the customer rather than being re-derived from job history every time.
• No Invoice fields ship. A county permit number belongs in Permits rather than a custom field. None of the nine are required.

Job templates

Thirteen, each with a duration for the slot finder. Tank Pumping 120 min, System Inspection 180, Drain Field Repair 480, Riser Install 180, Effluent Filter Service 60, Alarm / Pump Repair 120, New System Install 1440, Locate Service 60, Service Call and Diagnostic 60, Emergency Backup Response 180, Aerobic Maintenance Visit 60, Annual Plan Visit 90, Tank Abandonment 300. That 1440 is a flat 24 hours on a multi-day job, so the finder has nothing useful to offer for it; schedule that one by hand.

Required skills are pre-filled: Septic on all thirteen, plus Excavation on Drain Field Repair, New System Install and Tank Abandonment, Inspection on System Inspection, Electrical on Alarm / Pump Repair, and Installation on New System Install. If nobody carries those tags at Team and Availability, the finder gates every tech off the job.

Every template pre-fills billable lines. Drain Field Repair pre-fills 50 linear feet of Drain Field Line Repair, a placeholder rather than a measurement. Emergency Backup Response pre-fills three at once, the after-hours call-out plus a 1,000 gallon pump plus a main line clear, assuming you did all three. Delete what you did not do before it reaches an invoice. Twelve of the thirteen carry a linked checklist; Locate Service is the one that does not.

Services

Twenty-four price book lines, each with all three tiers (Default, Member, Commercial) and a cost, all badged "Set your price" until you save them. Lines and paper: Drain Field Line Repair (per linear ft), Drain Field Line Jetting, Main Line Cleared from House to Tank, Septic System Inspection with Written Report, Service Call and System Diagnostic, Hourly Rate (Septic), After-Hours Emergency Call-Out, Residential Septic Maintenance Plan and Aerobic System Maintenance Contract (both per year), Septic Tank Abandonment and Fill, and the two installs, Conventional Septic System Installation and Aerobic Treatment System Installation.

Fourteen are flagged for public booking and the public site, Septic Tank Abandonment and Fill among them, which most shops will want off, being a permitted job with a health department record. Both installs are one flat figure and no two lots price alike, so treat them as a starting number for an estimate. Settle one thing early: the aerobic contract line says three visits a year while the Aerobic Maintenance Visit template calls itself quarterly. Keep whichever your state requires and fix the other.

Checklists

Three, shipped for you to check against your own procedure at Checklists. Forty-seven items between them, and most capture a number or a choice rather than a tick.

• Tank Pumping Checklist, 19 items. Gallons pumped, tank capacity, scum and sludge in inches, liquid level at arrival (at, above or below the outlet invert), compartments pumped, inlet and outlet baffle condition, whether an effluent filter was even there, backflow from the field after pumping, and photos of the open tank, the empty walls and floor, and the restored site. Two are required: tank and lids located, and the disposal site and manifest number.
• Inspection Checklist, 17 items. System type, whether the permit or as-built record matches field conditions, tank age, sludge and scum, liquid depth below the outlet invert, a water load test with gallons introduced and rise in inches, distribution box level and flow, effluent pump amp draw, and whether the high-water alarm actually sounded on a float lift. Tank and baffle condition and drain field surfacing or ponding are required.
• Pre-Service Safety Check, 11 items. Atmosphere tested at the open lid, hydrogen sulfide in PPM, oxygen percent, the 811 locate ticket number, lids braced and guarded, a second person on site for tank work, and a photo of the barricade. Three required: never enter the tank, atmosphere tested before work, and the open lid or excavation never left unattended.

Cost and price are a national average, stock is zero, and no reorder point is set, because nothing here knows what is on your truck. Count it once and set your own numbers at Parts and Inventory.

The bill of materials wires 23 rows to 12 services. Access Riser Installation carries four (adapter ring, riser ring, lid with stainless screws, butyl rope), Effluent Pump Replacement four, and Conventional Septic System Installation three, including 250 ft of 4 in perforated leach pipe and a roll of filter fabric. Those two assume a gravel trench field; set chambers instead and the pipe and fabric lines are wrong for you. Aerobic Treatment System Installation ships with no bill of materials at all, and the SDR-35 gravity pipe and clay-to-PVC coupling are wired to nothing.

Seasonal pricing proposals

Four rules, all shipped switched off. The engine ignores an inactive rule, so nothing moves until you open one and turn it on at Seasonal Pricing.

• Spring Wet Season, Mar 1 to May 31, 1.12x on Septic Tank Pumping, Up to 1,000 Gallons. Note it is only on that line, not the 1,500 gallon one.
• Home Sale Season, Apr 15 to Aug 31, 1.15x on Septic System Inspection with Written Report.
• Holiday Backup Season, Nov 15 to Jan 5, 1.25x on After-Hours Emergency Call-Out.
• Frozen Ground, Dec 15 to Mar 15, 1.15x on Conventional Septic System Installation. Dead weight if your ground never freezes.

Typical workflow

• Pumping is the route business. Put each tank on a recurring job at the interval you measured, and hold the plan term in a service contract. Aerobic units are contract work by statute in most states: bill the annual charge on a recurring invoice so the visit ticket does not carry it a second time.
• Backups are the same-day lane. Service Call and Diagnostic is the first visit, and its fee applies to the repair if you do the work, so it has to come back off as a line on the invoice rather than get quietly forgotten.
• Installs, drain field replacements and abandonments go out as estimates with a deposit. Carry the county permit on the job under Permits and mark the fee billed to the customer or absorbed, so the margin is honest either way.
• Fill the Equipment record on the first visit, then send the written report and the tank photos through the customer portal. Capacity, material, configuration, lid depth and field type decide what truck goes and who goes; on a home sale the agent and the buyer both want the report the same day.

Cadence, the county, and the home-sale rush

The three-to-five-year rule sells easy and measures badly. Two people in a four-bedroom house are not on the same clock as six with a disposal. That is why both pumping checklists ask for scum and sludge in inches and why the Annual Plan Visit template exists: measure yearly, pump when the solids say so, and the interval stops being an argument. Disposal is the constraint nobody puts on the calendar, so the required manifest number on every pumping ticket is both your compliance record and the running count of how full the truck is.

Point-of-sale inspection rules are county-level and they move. Some want the tank pumped first, some want it left full, some take a report from any licensed pumper, and some accept only their own form. The Inspection Checklist follows the common shape (load test, D-box flow, alarm on a float lift), but the document you file is your county's, so re-order or add items to match it. Closings cluster spring through late summer on contract deadlines, which the Home Sale Season rule targets, and an inspection that slips a day can kill one, so those go first in the day.

Re-applying and mixing packs

Applying a pack twice adds only what is missing, so re-apply after an update without losing an edit. Plumbing is the usual second pack, since the line from the house is half your backup calls and that pack's Septic or Sewer customer field pairs with this one. Water Treatment fits the same rural well-and-septic customer, and Water Restoration covers the inside-the-house side of a backup you would otherwise sub out.
