Plumbing

The Plumbing pack tunes Manuall for water heater swaps, drain cleaning, leak detection, sewer work, and fixture repair. Apply it at signup from the Trade dropdown, or anytime from Settings -> Vertical Packs. It ships 7 custom fields, 13 job templates, 26 services, 3 checklists with 50 items, 20 parts wired to those services by 27 bill-of-materials rows, and 4 seasonal pricing proposals.

What the pack adds

Custom fields

• Customer: Water Main Shutoff Location (free text), Septic or Sewer, Primary Pipe Material (Copper, PEX, CPVC, Galvanized, Cast Iron, Polybutylene, Mixed/Unknown).
• Job: Drain Line Size (inches), 1.25 through 6.
• Equipment: Water Heater Type (seven options, tank through heat pump and boiler), Tank Capacity (gallons), Anode Rod Last Replaced.

The heater is the Equipment record. Pipe material and shutoff sit on the customer because they belong to the house, not the appliance. Polybutylene is the one worth filling on every first visit, since it turns the next leak call into a repipe conversation. What the pack does not ship is a backflow device field, no serial and no test-due date, even though it prices the test. If you do commercial backflow, add those in Custom Fields and put the retest on a recurring job.

Job templates

Thirteen, all named with a Plumbing: prefix, sized in minutes for the slot finder and gated by skills. Every one requires Plumbing; the extras are listed below.

Drain Cleaning (90, Drain), Emergency Water Leak or No Water (120, LeakDetection, Emergency priority), Leak Detection (120, LeakDetection), Sewer Line Camera + Locate (90, Sewer + Camera), Toilet Repair (60), Toilet Replacement (90), Faucet Repair / Replace (60), Shower or Tub Valve Repair (90), Sump Pump Replacement (90), Water Heater Replacement (240, Gas), Tankless Water Heater Install (360, Gas + Tankless), Annual Plumbing Inspection (90), and Repipe (Whole House) (1440).

Twelve of the thirteen pre-fill their billable lines. Four assumptions to check before you use them:

• Drain Cleaning pre-fills "Drain Cleaning, Single Fixture". A main-line call is a different line at a different price; swap it to Main Sewer Line Cleaning on the job.
• Faucet Repair / Replace pre-fills Kitchen Faucet Installation, so a lav call needs the line swapped to Bathroom Faucet Installation.
• Water Heater Replacement pre-fills the 40 Gallon Gas line. If your route runs mostly electric, point it at the 50 Gallon Electric line in Job Templates.
• Emergency Water Leak or No Water pre-fills three lines: after-hours, one hour of journeyman labor, and a copper repair. On a PEX or CPVC house that third line is wrong.

Repipe (Whole House) is the one with nothing pre-filled, because the price book has no repipe line. It also carries 1440 minutes, a full day and night, so Suggest Slots has nothing to offer inside a working day. Price and schedule that one by hand.

Services

Twenty-six lines, every one badged "Set your price" until you save it. Prices are a 2025 US national average and will be wrong for your market in both directions. Each carries a Member and a Commercial price next to the default, plus a cost, so the Price Book shows margin. Fifteen are flagged for public booking and the public site; labor, after-hours, hydro jetting, tankless and the tank replacements are not, because those get quoted, not picked off a dropdown.

The tank replacement numbers assume a straight swap in a garage or basement with the connections where they already are. An attic or crawlspace install, a vent or gas drop brought up to code, and the permit are not in that price. There is no repipe line, no sewer replacement or excavation, and nothing for water treatment. If you sell those, build them before the day you have to quote one.

Checklists

Three, shipped for you to check against your own procedure. Seven of the thirteen templates carry one.

• Water Heater Install Checklist (20 items), on Water Heater Replacement and Tankless: T&P valve and discharge termination, expansion tank pre-charge in psi, combustion air openings, draft at the hood after five minutes of firing, ambient CO in ppm after ten, manifold gas pressure in WC, sediment trap, seismic strapping, and required photos of the finished connections and the data plate. It is written around a gas tank, so on a tankless or an electric swap the draft and CO items do not apply. Copy it and cut them rather than leaving a tech guessing.
• Annual Whole-Home Plumbing Inspection (19 items), on Annual Plumbing Inspection and Leak Detection: static pressure after 15 minutes with the water off, heater age read off the serial, anode condition, hardness in grains per gallon, washing machine hoses, sump cycle test, and a photo of each deficiency found. Those readings are what turns a membership visit into quoted work.
• Pre-Service Safety Check (11 items), on Emergency Water Leak, Repipe and Sump Pump Replacement: main shut-off located, gas detector bump-tested, circuit locked out at the panel, extinguisher and a 30 minute fire watch for hot work, sewage exposure kit, floor protection on the work path, and a required photo of pre-existing damage before you start.

Parts

Twenty truck-stock items across eight categories, all carrying a PL- part number.

• Toilet Parts: extra-thick wax ring, chlorine-resistant flapper, universal fill valve, tank-to-bowl kit, closet bolts.
• Valves: quarter-turn angle stop, full-port ball valve, frost-free sillcock, 3/4 in PRV.
• Water Heater Parts: 3/4 in T&P relief valve, magnesium anode rod, 2 gallon expansion tank.
• Supply Lines: braided toilet connector, faucet supply, stainless heater connector.
• Pipe and Fittings, Drainage, Repair Parts, Pumps: Type L copper and a push-fit slip coupling, a 1-1/4 in P-trap, a Moen 1225 cartridge, and a 1/3 HP cast iron submersible sump.

Cost and price are a national average, on hand is zero and there is no reorder point, because nothing here can know what is on your truck. Count the truck first, then set reorder points in Parts and Inventory so a low-stock alert means something.

The 27 bill-of-materials rows tie parts to the services that consume them. Both water heater replacements pull two heater connectors, a T&P valve, a ball valve and an expansion tank. A toilet install pulls a wax ring, closet bolts and a connector; a toilet rebuild pulls a fill valve, a flapper and a tank-to-bowl kit. Two assumptions to fix on day one: the only cartridge stocked is a Moen 1225, so a Delta or Kohler route needs its own part wired to Shower Valve Cartridge Replacement, and there is no PEX in the list at all, so anything past a copper spot repair is stock you add yourself.

Seasonal pricing proposals

Four, all shipped switched off. The pricing engine ignores an inactive rule, so nothing moves until you read one and turn it on in Seasonal Pricing.

• Freeze Season, December 1 to February 28, After-Hours Emergency Service at 1.30x.
• Cold Inlet Season, November 1 to February 28, "Water Heater Replacement, 40 Gallon Gas" at 1.10x.
• Holiday Kitchen Rush, November 20 to January 5, "Drain Cleaning, Single Fixture" at 1.15x.
• Midsummer Slow Stretch, July 1 to August 31, Sewer Line Hydro Jetting at 0.90x.

All four are written for a climate that freezes. In Phoenix or Houston the peak is a summer slab-leak run and the freeze rules are noise, so leave them off and write your own. The after-hours rule is the one most likely to draw a complaint, since a burst line at 2am is the moment a customer has the least choice. Turn it on because your overtime cost is real, not because the number is sitting there.

Typical workflow

• Drain emergencies are a same-day commitment: set up the "tech on the way" text in Templates and Messages.
• Water heater work runs $1,650 for a 50 gallon electric up to $3,850 tankless at the pack's baseline, so it goes out as an estimate with a deposit, around 20%.
• When hidden damage turns up mid-job, use a Change Order, not an edit of the signed estimate.
• Recurring revenue: the Annual Plumbing Inspection template pre-fills the membership and a heater flush. Wrap it in a Service Agreement and let recurring jobs generate the visits; the anode rod swaps fall out of the inspection readings.
• Pull the permit on the job wherever local code wants one for a heater or a repipe.

Compliance to watch

• Your state plumbing license (per tech, varies by state).
• Backflow certification for commercial work.
• General liability and workers comp.

Track the expiry dates in Compliance so a lapsed cert surfaces before an inspector finds it.

Re-applying and mixing packs

Applying a pack twice adds only what is missing and never overwrites an edit, so layering is safe. HVAC plus Plumbing is still the most common combination. Water Treatment fills the softener and filtration gap this pack leaves, Septic pairs with the sewer camera work, and Water Restoration covers the dry-out after a burst line.
