The Garage Door pack tunes Manuall for spring replacement, opener installs, and panel repair. Apply it at signup or from Settings -> Vertical Packs.

What the pack adds

Custom fields

• Customer (2): Number of Garage Doors, Ceiling Clearance (ft).
• Job (3): Door Size, Spring Type, Door Brand.
• Equipment (2): Opener Drive Type, Motor HP.

None of the seven are required. Opener brand, model and serial are not among them because Equipment already carries those as first-class fields. Ceiling Clearance is the one worth filling on the first visit: it decides whether a standard trolley opener fits the bay or the job needs a jackshaft on the wall, and knowing that before the truck rolls saves a return trip. Thirteen, each with a duration for the slot finder. Required skills: GarageDoor on all thirteen, plus Installation on the two new-door installs. If nobody carries those tags at Team and Availability, the slot finder gates every tech off the install work.

All thirteen pre-fill billable lines. Two pre-fill a pair: Emergency Spring Failure adds the after-hours call plus the spring job, and Door Off Track Repair adds the reset plus track realignment, so drop the track line when the door only needed walking back in. Twelve link a checklist; Service Call (Diagnostic) is the one that does not, which is right for a look-and-quote visit.

Twenty-five price book lines, each with Default, Member and Commercial tiers plus a cost, all badged "Set your price" until you save them. Thirteen are flagged for public booking and the public site; that form makes a lead, not a calendar slot.

Haul-away is priced into the single-door install and billed separately on doubles, second doors and removal-only work, which is why the Double Door Install template pre-fills both lines. Carriage and glass-panel doors carry the widest variance in the book, so treat that one as a placeholder rather than a number to quote from.

Checklists

Three, shipped for you to check against your own procedure at Checklists. Fifty items between them, and 27 of those capture a number, a choice or a photo rather than a tick.

• Annual Tune-Up Checklist, 18 items, 3 required. Lube, balance, safety reverse and photo-eye ticks, then door weight on the scale, manual lift at the disconnect, safety reverse contact time off the 2x4, photo-eye height, down-force setting, motor amp draw on close, spring coil gap, cable condition, and a photo of the opener label.
• New Door Install Checklist, 17 items, 4 required. Headroom, backroom and side room measured, door weight, the spring sizing record (wire, inside diameter, length, wind), cycle rating installed, fasteners into solid framing rather than drywall or shim, contact time on the 2x4, photo eyes at or below 6 in, finished-door and spring-assembly photos, old door disposition.
• Spring Replacement Safety Check, 15 items, 4 required. PPE, correct-length winding bars, door clamped, bystanders cleared, then wire size, inside diameter, length, wind direction, turns wound on each spring, cone set screws torqued onto the shaft flat, cables seated with equal tension both sides, balance after winding, and safety reverse retested.

Parts

Twenty truck items across nine categories: Springs, Cables and Drums, Rollers and Hinges, Brackets and Bearings, Track and Hardware, Weatherseal, Opener Parts, Openers, Shop Supplies. Cost and price are a national average, stock is zero and no reorder point is set, because nothing here knows what is on your truck. Counting it once at Parts and Inventory is the first pass.

The bill of materials wires 48 rows to 20 services, so the tech sees the part the job needs and the office sees what to keep stocked. Torsion Spring Replacement pulls five, including two springs. The five services with no material are the labor lines: both service calls, hourly labor, the care plan and haul-away.

Where it will be wrong for you: there is exactly one torsion spring in the list, 0.250 wire x 2 in ID x 32 in, and one extension spring, where a real rack carries a dozen sizes. The lift cable is cut for a 7 ft door only. The bottom seal line pulls 16 ft, sized to a double, so a 9 ft single bills nearly twice the rubber it uses. And the only openers stocked are the 1/2 HP belt and chain units, so the 3/4 HP WiFi line and the jackshaft pull a strut and a keypad and nothing else.

Seasonal pricing proposals

Four rules, all shipped switched off. The pricing engine ignores an inactive rule, so nothing moves until you open one and turn it on at Seasonal Pricing.

• First Freeze Rush, Dec 1 to Feb 15, 1.15x on Torsion Spring Replacement (Standard). Springs let go on the first hard-freeze mornings and every one of those calls wants same-day.
• Winter Cold Snap, Dec 1 to Feb 28, 1.20x on Emergency After-Hours Service Call. It stops on the 28th, so a leap-year Feb 29 falls outside it.
• Winter Slow Season, Jan 15 to Mar 15, 0.90x on Double Door Installation (Standard Steel). A discount to keep the install crew working through the dead weeks.
• Pre-Winter Tune-Up Push, Sep 1 to Oct 31, 0.85x on Annual Tune-Up. The fall tune-up is the loss leader that finds tired springs before winter breaks them.

All four assume a climate that freezes. In Phoenix or Miami there is no first-freeze spring rush, and winter is when doors actually sell, so the slow-season discount runs backwards.

Typical workflow

• Most calls are same-day emergencies; a broken spring means a car shut in the garage.
• Repairs run small enough to skip a deposit. Door installs do not, and the pack's install lines run from a standard single steel door up to a carriage double. Send those as an estimate with a deposit and let the customer approve and pay in the portal.
• Recover the diagnostic fee on the follow-up repair. The Service Call template pre-fills that line, so delete it on the repair visit or the customer pays it twice.
• Door Care Plan bills per year, not per visit, and the Care Plan Enrollment Visit template pre-fills it every time. Run plan visits as recurring jobs and drop the plan line on every visit after the first of the plan year.
• Track spring and opener warranties through Warranties.

Re-applying and mixing packs

Applying a pack twice adds only what is missing, so re-apply after an update without losing an edit. Locksmith is the usual second pack if you also sell keypads and entry hardware, and Handyman covers the small work that rides along on a door call. Apply either from Settings -> Vertical Packs.
